This is worth being precise about, because the phrase “expiring QR code” describes something that does not exist. A QR code is a pattern of ink. It has no clock in it and no date attached to it, and it will read exactly the same in twenty years as it does today.
What expires is a service. A dynamic code encodes a short link that someone has to keep resolving, and if that someone stops, the pattern is still perfect and still points at a door nobody answers. So the real question is never “does this code expire”. It is “what happens to my printing if I stop paying”.
Four reasons a printed code stops working
Three of them are decisions somebody made about your account. Only the last is really about the code.
The trial quietly ended
