Hotel QR codes.
One code, every room, forever.
The directory, the WiFi, the breakfast times and the bar list. Print one design across every room and change what it opens whenever something moves, without reprinting a single card.
Rooms multiply. Codes don't.
Forty rooms need the same four codes, not a hundred and sixty. The directory is identical in every room, so one design gets printed forty times and one edit updates the building. Per-room codes are only worth it where the destination genuinely differs, which is rarer than it sounds.
4 codes. 8 rooms or 80. Same price. What replaces the compendium
In rough order of how often the information behind it goes out of date.
The room directory
The compendium in the drawer that was printed in 2019 and is wrong about breakfast. Behind a dynamic code it is a file you replace, and every room is corrected at once.
Guest WiFi
One static code, printed as many times as you have rooms. It costs nothing on any plan and it is the code guests scan first, before they have found the light switch.
Food and drink
Room service, the bar list, breakfast. Prices and dishes move often enough that a printed card is wrong within a season, which is exactly the case for a code that can be repointed.
Reviews on the way out
At the desk or on the folio rather than in the room, because the moment to ask is at checkout. Worth reading the rules on how you ask before you print it.
What this is not
This is for independent properties and small groups. If you run a chain with a property management system, the guest-facing pieces here probably belong in it rather than alongside it.
